Good morning friends,
Quote of the week:
Love in its truest sense is not based on feelings, rather love determines the show thoughtful actions even when there seems to be no reward (Matt 5:46). – The Love Dare

- What is Tolerance? As the golden rule asserts, we need to treat everyone as we would like to be treated. We, therefore, need to be tolerant of others. But what is tolerance? A well-known dictionary defines tolerance as, “a fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward those whose opinions, practices, race, religion, nationality, etc., differ from one’s own.”: https://www.cltruth.com/2017/what-is-tolerance/
- Only the Appearance of Design? – There is perhaps no more famous atheist than Richard Dawkins. The evolutionary biologist has spent many years of his life pushing back against religious ideas. One of his better-known books, however, finds a sort of common ground between Christians and atheists. His book, The Blind Watchmaker (1986), describes how precisely fine-tuned our planet is for life. However, he refers to this as an illusion. It is only the appearance of design, and he spends most of the book explaining why it is only an appearance. Let’s stop there for a moment and consider the implications. The appearance of design begs many questions regarding our universe, planet, and God’s existence.: https://tentmakingchristianity.com/only-the-appearance-of-design/

- Mammoth DNA: The Oldest Ever Found? | The Institute for Creation Research – Scientists have sequenced small amounts of DNA from the teeth of two Siberian mammoths said to have lived more than a million years ago. The discovery has set an official record for the oldest DNA ever recovered, and it also raises a number of questions relevant to the creation-evolution controversy. Can DNA survive longer than a million years? Creationists have pointed out that original proteins found in dinosaur remains are a powerful argument for a young Earth, as experiments show that proteins cannot survive even a million years at the temperatures in situ dinosaur fossils are exposed to, let alone the 66 million years since dinosaurs supposedly went extinct.: https://www.icr.org/article/mammoth-dna-oldest-ever-found/
- Ambassador at Work – Faith, Vocation, and Apologetics – Dr. Mikel Del Rosario | Apologetics Guy℠ – At the end of the day, our spiritual conversations are always heard in the context of our lives, including our lives at work. As Christian ambassadors, we need to see the value God sees in our work and the opportunities he’s has placed for us to represent him well in our places of employment. Take this week to intentionally build relationships with your coworkers, supervisors, customers and clients, genuinely loving them through your work. By God’s grace, these simple acts of kindness can help open the door to spiritual conversations and even break down emotional barriers to the Gospel.: https://apologeticsguy.com/2018/10/vocation/
- Is Religious Freedom Addressed in Scripture? | Answers in Genesis – So how does all of this come together in Scripture in regard to religious freedom? Well we see several cases where Paul appealed to his Roman citizenship or his religious affiliations to avoid persecution or to hold people accountable when he was persecuted unjustly. : https://answersingenesis.org/religious-freedom/religious-freedom-addressed-scripture/

- The Importance of Hell | Core Christianity – The doctrine of hell is crucial-without it we can’t understand our complete dependence on God, the character and danger of even the smallest sins, and the true scope of the costly love of Jesus. Nevertheless, it is possible to stress the doctrine of hell in unwise ways. Many, for fear of doctrinal compromise, want to put all the emphasis on God’s active judgment, and none on the self-chosen character of hell. Ironically, as we have seen, this unBiblical imbalance often makes it less of a deterrent to non-believers rather than more of one. And some can preach hell in such a way that people reform their lives only out of a self-interested fear of avoiding consequences, not out of love and loyalty to [Christ]: https://corechristianity.com/resource-library/articles/the-importance-of-hell/

- Deepak Chopra vs Christian Apologist Debate (Chopra Loses) – YouTube – The most prominent teacher of mysticism and New Age philosophy in the West Deepak Chopra goes toe to toe in a debate with Christian apologist Greg Koukl on Lee Strobel’s show “Faith under Fire”. This episode called “The Future of Faith” aired in 2005. Chopra, who has written two books on the topic of Jesus, seems to be at loss for words as the well-researched Koukl keeps correcting him on his false view of Jesus, his false doctrine, and the historicity of the Gospels. Chopra’s Eastern/secular interpretation of Jesus does not seem to hold water when confronted with someone who teaches apologetics and defends the faith for a living.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meYHmFz33NE

- It is a popular view these days. Many people have the impression that the Bible is simply an outdated book of fairytales and contradictions. We are told that biblical stories are fine for children, and perhaps they even contain some moral value. “But, surely” says the critic, “such stories cannot be taken seriously in our modern age of science and technology.” After all, the Bible speaks of floating ax-heads, the sun apparently going backwards, a universe created in six days, an earth that has pillars and corners, people walking on water, light before the sun, a talking snake, a talking donkey, dragons, and a senior citizen taking two of every animal on a big boat! On the surface, these things may seem absurd, particularly to those unfamiliar with the Christian worldview. But to make matters even worse, it is alleged that the Bible contains contradictions. That is, the Bible seems to say one thing in one place, and then the opposite in another. Which are we to believe? Obviously, two contradictory statements cannot both be true. The claim of contradictions is a serious allegation against the Christian worldview, and we must be prepared to defend the Bible against such claims.: https://answersingenesis.org/answers/books/demolishing-supposed-bible-contradictions-1/introduction/
